Let Us Rise Up And Build ~Nehemiah 2:18

Letter from Pastor

The ABCs of Our Capital Campaign

Events

What are the Spiritual goals of the Campaign?

What are the Spiritual goals of the Campaign?
The spiritual goals of the Lifestyle Capital Stewardship Campaign are:
• To forge a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ as we seek God’s
guidance in making a commitment to support God’s vision for our
ministry.
• To expand God’s influence and share his love through assessing
our lifestyle, reordering our priorities and reallocating our financial
resources
By making our best offering to God, we will be able to carry out his
vision for us to build the new Cathedral and better serve our growing
congregation and broader community in the future.

Why can’t this be done through regular giving?

Why can’t this be done through regular giving?
Our established budget is for the ongoing day-to-day expenses of
our church and the many ministries that are offered. In order for us to go to the next level, we will need additional resources.

How were our gifts from the last LifestyleCapital Stewardship Campaign that started in 2006 used?

How were our gifts from the last Lifestyle
Capital Stewardship Campaign that started
in 2006 used?

The first Campaign provided a tremendous level of support toward
the goal of building our new church. We were able to cover the
necessary pre-development costs and keep the project moving
forward despite the economic recession that has fallen on our nation
during the past several years. Without any bank financing and solely
with your support, Grace has been able to purchase and
decontaminate, in the case of the gas station, all necessary property
to expand our physical presence to West Second Street and South
Seventh Avenue. (The garage property is being used for storage until
we can begin construction.) We have completed architectural
drawings and construction plans for the new Cathedral. We have
also incurred legal expenses and completed all required
environmental and site studies to secure our building permits from
the City of Mount Vernon.

How will the money be used?

How will the money be used?
While we wait on God and the recovery of our economy, we must
continue to demonstrate financial health at Grace to banks that we
approach for financing. Our collective sacrificial gifts will allow us to
build a new sanctuary while converting the old one into a multipurpose
center. We will have expanded facilities for our ministries,
including adequate space for our choirs, praise dancers and musicians,
sufficient classrooms for our Church School, a larger bookstore and
ample space in our banquet hall and kitchen to serve more meals to the
community in our traditional, caring way. Our collective gifts will allow us
to cover the necessary construction costs and equipment/furniture
expenses required to complete the full transformation of our facilities.

What can I do to help?

What can I do to help?
  • Make prayer your first priority. Pray individually and collectively that God’s people would be found faithful by God to his call on their lives. Pray for this Campaign that everything we do in it will be consistent with God’s will for our lives and for our church. Pray also for boldness.
  • When asked to participate, step forward and take part.
  • When making an estimate of giving, have faith that God will provide.
  • Catch the vision, become involved, be committed to God’s work and together we can celebrate our journey.

What is sacrificial giving?

What is sacrificial giving?
It is above and beyond normal tithing and general giving to the church.
It requires a reassessment of our lifestyle and a readjustment of our
priorities. Sacrificial giving costs the giver something. King David
demonstrated his understanding of sacrifice in II Samuel 24:24 when
he wrote:
“I will not offer as a sacrifice to God that which costs me nothing.”
Sacrificial giving also requires prayer that will lead towards the
best gift each one of us can give.

How much should I plan to give?

How much should I plan to give?

“Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same spirit.”
– I Corinthians 12:4

This is a spiritual effort that requires prayer and asking God what
sacrifice one should make. The key is equal sacrifice and constant
prayer that will guide you towards the amount of your gift. The gift
signifies a love of Christ and acknowledges our faith in God that all
things are possible.

Am I expected to give if I fulfilled my commitment to the first campaign?

Am I expected to give if I fulfilled my commitment to the first campaign?
Expected might not be the right word to use, but yes, this Campaign’s goal is 100% participation of all of the Grace family. Some of us were a part of the first campaign and were blessed to meet the pledge commitments that we made at that time. Others were unable to  fulfill their commitments due to financial or other circumstances beyond their control, while others had yet to join the Grace family.

This campaign is for all of us, and through prayer and sacrifice,
God will direct you towards the amount of your gift.

When does it all begin?

When does it all begin?
We will launch the commitment phase of the Campaign during our
Vision Day celebration in June 2012. Your gifts can be given weekly,
monthly, annually or as a lump sum. New members are welcome to
commit their gifts at anytime during the Campaign cycle.

If this is a three-year campaign, why should I commit or pledge an amount now?

If this is a three-year campaign, why should I
commit or pledge an amount now?
The advantage is three-fold. First, your early commitment allows
you to prayerfully plan your sacrificial giving and incorporate it
into your personal financial situation across a timeframe that you
can best accommodate. Second, pledging early allows us to
know that we can count on your support as we assess the capital
needs of the church. Third, and finally, your pledge strengthens
our position to negotiate the terms of our construction loan and it
demonstrates the future strength of the congregation’s capacity
to service the note.

Do I have to be a member of Grace to participate in the campaign?

Do I have to be a member of Grace to
participate in the campaign?
We welcome all to be a part of our community and to support the
life of our church through a commitment to our Capital Campaign.
Our Grace family joyfully includes those who may not be formal
members but who enjoy the fellowship of our congregation and
the blessings flowing from our ministries, including our online
community of worshippers

Are these gifts tax deductible?
